One of the biggest mistakes folks make when trapping slugs is to put the traps IN the garden. Makes much more sense to move the traps OUTSIDE of the garden....Slugs will travel up to a mile to get a good meal (and a beer) so you don't need to worry they won't come out of the garden to go to a trap. A few feet out of the garden will attract the same slugs....

P.S. don't forget that for every slug you see above ground, there are four or five 'running around' in the soil.
