Taking a thread from another list that I belong to
and bringing it here. I've just finished reading several posts from people that
shred their newspapers to add to their compost heap or use as mulch in the
garden.
Now I'm not sure I'd like the look of newspaper
mulch but I do wonder what it would do for my compost heap?
Last year I installed an instant shade garden by
laying layers of newspaper on top of the ground and putting 8-10" of compost and
manure on top of it. Tree roots in the area made it difficult to dig down. This
spring will be the test as I see how the plants have grown.
