Hi, there has been one case and here was the decision:
On October 24, 1995, Stratton Oakmount announced that it was dropping its
$200 million libel lawsuit against Prodigy Online Service. Prodigy had
assembled new evidence to show that, since 1992, it had used a computerized
keyword search solely to weed out messages containing obscene language, but
had not scanned messages for defamatory speech. This evidence, coupled with
an apology from Prodigy, was enough to convince Stratton Oakmount to drop
the case.
What can You do to avoid or limit liability
5. Require signing of a disclaimer that the corporation accepts no
responsibility for the publishing of defamatory materials.

I do only screen for defamatory speech, I do not have "forum leaders" and I
do require that each person takes responsibility for their postings.
I think I am ok but thank you for the advice. I will keep it in mind and do
a bit more research before a "negative" post comes up.

You're referring to personal libel, Sheri. Truth is a defense there. But
when it comes to businesses or trade libel, all they have to show is a smear
and loss. I have a degree in journalism too, but that's no substitute for
an LL.B. or JD.
