Well, Dan
I am not entirely sure how that word is going to get around about the contents of the book. I was sent a book for review by a Timber Press by a national magazine. My review was not bad, but I did find fault with one aspect. They did not run the review for it was considered negative. I think I received a hint to change the review... like are you sure??, but that could have been my imagination. I did find out that they do not publish negative reviews on gardening books. If it is a stinker they do not say anything.
Incidentally, I have not received another request to do a book review.

However, this brings up another question. Timber Press is a publisher with the bottom line of profits. Should they be held accountable to the content of a book? Shouldn't they be asking, "How many of these books can we sell?" and let the public determine its merits?
