Yep, that's what I meant.
I, too, have been ( well had) been growing such produce for a similar period
of time.
It's been my experience that any commercial crop, including organically
managed, will attract insect pests.
At what populations they cross the threshold from acceptable to significant
is probably a moot, but heated, point.

BTW, maybe you've run across this problem. Do you know of any critter that
will pop into a pepper patch and eat them all? This summer I lost about 3
dozen plants worth of peppers- from sweet to hot. I walked out one morning
and there they were- gone. I would have thought someone had picked them. I
use straw as a mulch so footprints weren't available. And I did query those
in our family who are not overly fond of them. dc
