Yeah, Plantskydd, which is bloodmeal with an oil emulsion to make it stick, is hard to apply. You can spray it on if you have a "concrete sprayer" instead of a garden sprayer. Worth having if you ever use compost teas.
 
Here is the site for the electric deer fence :http://wirelessdeerfence.com/wdf/index.htm Around here we use about five per acre, placed stratically in garden beds.  You fill them with an attractant, put in a regular battery and stick the post in the ground. I don't even have to fill mine with attractant anymore as the moose just stay away. 
 
Again, deer are different critters.  We do find that a combination of things works best. After a while any animal will get used to pain and disturbance if they are hungry enough!
