Hello Jo Ellen,
I have had the Fireworks goldenrod for some year now on the west side of
my shade garden where it catches the setting sun. Also right under a
chestnut tree so lots of root competition. Helps to keep it a bit in line.
My favorite companion is the bluebeard or Coryopteris. Nothing like a
classic combination of blue and yellow, especially when they both bloom so
long in the garden. Bet Jopie weed would make a great companion as well,
especially one of the shorter cultivars.
