So many great ideas here! Yesterday I spoke with Carlo who gave me a contact at the NYBG community garden program. We also have a very active Habitat for Humanity chapter here in town, my husband does work for them. I'd be glad to donate plants to them and even give a lesson to the new home owner.

Last night the problem was solved. My 14 year old daughter is in our local high school marching band and they announced a massive garage sale on April 24th & 25th. I've decided to set up a plant booth there. All prices will be firm since the donations are going to the band. It's also a great location for the more common things like the truck load of Lychnis coronaria I have to dig up.

Stephan, Some of the gardeners that come here for plants are extremely thankful. They send notes, which is very nice. A few have made me things such as monogrammed napkins or picked up a gardening picture frame, which is totally unnecessary but also very nice. Many woman though never show up to work in one of my community projects or when the garden is on tour but are at the front of the line to receive their "freebies". A few even show up with newly manicured nails and linen slacks and seem to expect me to load their car for them. That's when I get conveniently busy in another part of the garden.

Insurance: Once we began giving tours here we increased our umbrella/home owners policy to 1 million. In 2006 when the national American Hemerocallis Society tour will be here we'll get event insurance.

Yesterday I spent three hours weeding at Planting Fields Arboretum. PFA will be on tour during the GWA Symposium in September and will be stunning at that time of year. I'm signed up to be a bus captain in hopes I will get to know many of you that way.

Lon, can photos be sent to this site?

Oops, time for the school bus,
Melanie
