Knock a "doorway" from the edge of an 8 to 10-inch terracotta pot and set
it upside down in the garden, preferably over some leaf litter or straw
mulch. Toads love the shade and dampness under the pot. Depending on the
local population of slugs and other good things to eat, a lot of toads can
live in one garden. But remember, it's only one toad per pot. In a fairly
lush garden, the pots blend in pretty well. But even if they are visually
prominent, they still look better than slug-ravenged plants.
