just copy and past the code in text.
Here is my sample app. Getting the include statements correct is important.

// TestFreeTDS64.cpp : Defines the entry point for the console application.
//

#include <config.h>
#include <stdarg.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <assert.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <sqlfront.h>
#include <sqldb.h>

int main(int argc, char* argv[])
{
LOGINREC *login;
//RETCODE erc;
DBPROCESS *dbproc;

if (dbinit() == FAIL)
{
return (-1);
}

if ((login = dblogin()) == NULL)
{
return (2);
}

dbsetifile((char*)"C:\\Users\\Paul\\Downloads\\FreeTDS\\FreeTDS_64Bit\\etc\\freetds.conf");

DBSETLUSER(login, "***" );
DBSETLPWD(login, "***" );
DBSETLCHARSET(login, "CP1253" );
if ((dbproc = dbopen(login, "dev" )) == NULL)
{
return (-3);
}

return 0;

}//end global method main
