This is one of the reasons I'm very excited about the server side work
going on. This is a long-term project of mine, at various times
referred to as "the mystery project" (tm). Believe it or not, the
Access (MDB) file format is actually fairly sane, with the obvious
exception of having no native locking mechanism. Top that with MSDE
format support (which I am working on) and you have a first class LGPL
/GPL database engine.

I once wired up PostgreSQL (7.0 I think it was, this area has gotten
at lot of work since then and my patches no longer apply) to use the
FreeTDS server stuff. I'd love to see some one run with that along
with the corresponding SQL engine work to give it a "MS SQL"
personality. Perhaps after I win the lottery and have all day to work
on these things. ;-)
