Sadly, there is no direct way to get the binary to tell you what version
it is. At least, there wasn't at the time. Nowadays, you can run "tsql
-C" and get a very nice little report (if I do say so myself).

Probably, you have 0.53. It was released 20 Dec 2001; version 0.60
arrived 11 Sep 2002. Absolutely, you should upgrade. Many many things
have been fixed, and we were all in short pants back in the 0.53 days.
