PLEASE have a look at the examples I committed yesterday. In particular
look at the installation script "samples/unixodbc.install.sh" which has the
correct odbcinst flags to install a system DSN, and some additional hints
that might be useful. Insisting that "my template files are OK" isn't going
to solve your problem.

Also, check the last argument in your isql command. It should be the
password, but you are using the database name. Unless your sa password is
really the same as the name of your database, that won't work.

odbcinst did not write anything into odbc.ini??
i wrote my dsn definiton in odbc.ini
nothing changed, it still fails.
