A little more information on this. Sybase 11.0.3 works flawlessly under
TDS 4.2. Our junior DBA is doing EBF updates today, so I'll see if this
is a Sybase bug that been fixed, or we need to alert Sybase to the
problem. Curiously, since we based our 4.2 streams off of isql from way
back, i wonder if an ancient openclient will crash 12.5 as well?

Can you say Denial of Service attack? I knew you could.
