I admit I am rather ignorant about MSSQL in general having used MySQL and
Postgresql more...Recently I've switched to MSSQL...so please forgive my
ignorance, but what exactly is sqsh and MS isql?

If you mean the Query Analyzer program that comes with MSSQL, then yes, I have
tested my query in that and it runs correctly...if you are speaking of
something
else, please let me know so I can test my query further.

Thanks,

Zara

Zara,

I have no direct experience with image data, but the docs say the image
datatype
is a lot like the text datatype, controlled in part by the @@textsize
variable.
And I'm pretty sure FreeTDS will do the job in your environment.

Have you been able to test your query with sqsh and/or the MS isql program?
