Excellent, you hit it right on the head here. I misspelled the hostname
(duh!) in the freetds.conf file. Also, it was necessary to edit the PWD
file in the DBD-Sybase-0.91 dir to match my login settings so that 'make
test' would run correctly.

I think it's up and running now. Thanks a TON for your help guys. Long
live peer support :)
