Just to confirm, I did strip out the TDS version in my tests. I've been
using a plain string of the form

String url = "jdbc:freetds:sqlserver://xxx/xxx";

I have a shrinkwrapped SQL 2000 here which I'll test with in the next few
days. I'm guessing it'll work, though.
