Thanks for all the help but I still need more help :-(#
I inserted the following two lines into httpd.conf:

SetEnv SYBASE /usr/local/freetds
SetEnv LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/local/freetds/lib

but as soon as I did I could no longer restart the server,
I now get a error message:

[root@mug init.d]# !./
./httpd start
Starting httpd:
Syntax error on line 70 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/libphp3.so into server:
/etc/httpd/modules/libphp3.so:
undefined symbol: dbdead

[FAILED]
[root@mug init.d]# ./httpd restart
Shutting down
http:
[FAILED]
Starting httpd:
Syntax error on line 70 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/libphp3.so into server:
/etc/httpd/modules/libphp3.so:

I tried deleting this and it work again, I've move it around the file
no good? and now the server will not restart;
but if I reboot the system it starts again, but will not restart.
