Subject: [corpus-paul] Clement of Philippians

Was the Clement of Philippians 4:3 likely Clement of Rome?

The most likely date for Philippians is shortly before Paul's release from his first imprisonment in Rome (61 CE). An aged Clement of Rome died around 100 CE and was Bishop of Rome in the 90's so he could easily have been one of Paul's young converts in Rome between 59-61.  There is always the chance that Philippians refers to another Clemens since it was a common Roman name but I think it is likely that Paul's Clement and Clement of Rome are one and the same.
