Thanks, John Dickson, for your clarification from the
standpoint of grammar, which I do find convincing. The
whole issue of what is prepauline vs. what is Pauline is
very important, when one ventures into Romans 5-8 as well as
other places. For example, it seems clear that the
tradition of Jesus' baptism is prepauline, although the
linkage of the baptism of Christians with the death and
resurrection of Christ appears to be Pauline.
