Wembley (http://www.myspace.com/wembleystadium)
Jeremy Blair from Effingham
The Pinhook, Durham

Le Weekend write & occasionally perform oddly slippery little popsongs that seem like they must make perfect sense to bandleader Matt Kalb, which is why I'm always a little mystified that they don't make perfect sense to me. It's kind of like waking up & discovering that you no longer understand English, for about 15 minutes.

p.s. I love Wembley.

Yes, a Johnny Cash tribute band *and* a Kinks tribute band, both from the Triangle. I know, have seen, and enjoy the Kinksmen. Don't know the first thing about the other guys.

Friday, October 1
Transportation (http://www.myspace.com/transportation)
Joe Romeo (http://www.myspace.com/joeromeomusic)

Transportation are the long-running Chapel Hill trio who've built their reputation on their love for Queen (and Wings), 2- and 3-part harmonies, power-trio rock, and releasing records every 7 years. They have a new one out this month, in fact.

Saturday, October 2
Monologue Bombs (http://www.myspace.com/themonologuebombs)
The Tourist (http://www.myspace.com/thetouristnc)

These Marsh Woodwinds shows usually start on the early side, and I'm told they provide snacks.

Peter Wolf Crier (http://www.peterwolfcrier.com/)

Saturday, October 2
Die Nierentische
Broad Street Cafe, Durham

So longtime local musician Mark Simonsen (currently found holding down the organ & vibraphone slot in The Old Ceremony) has these old friends from Dresden who just happen to be in a band called Die Nierentische, which the internet claims means, roughly, "the kidney-shaped tables." Which is an allusion to the swinging-bachelor period of the late 50s and early 60s, though I haven't the foggiest idea what that would've meant in postwar East Germany.

But so anyway, Mark invited them over to play some shows. This is one of them.
