Let's not forget the show I'll be attending on Halloween night, which
is Legendary Pink Dots at Local 506. LPD are probably the only one of
the honest-to-goodness 80's goth/industrial/"darkwave" bands that are
still active (Einsturzende Neubauten are still around, but having them
come to town on Halloween might be a bit much to ask) and their newest
record ("Plutonium Blonde") is the best of their last, oh, half a
dozen records (they have a zillion, plus every member of the band has
solo albums - their merch table is an impressive sight.) Not
everything they've ever recorded is brilliant, but when they're good
they're hypnotizing in a Syd Barrett meets the weirder parts of the
old Roxy Music and Eno records at a Krautrock convention and scores
some really good acid kind of way.
