There's a general principle that the denser the storage, the weaker
the archive. A shellac disc breaks, and you can glue it back together
and recover the sound, give or take some extra pops. When Venice
flooded, they just hung out those sheepskin codexes to dry, a feature
which hasn't be worked into the FLAC codex.
