I don't know, man. In 2007, "that one's taken" pretty much has to mean "another band is actively using the name right now," not "another band used it 10 years ago, released a couple of singles on Polyvinyl, then broke up." Because there *is* a shortage of good creative band names, and it's only gonna get worse.

Of course, I may have a more liberal view of this than some. I'd personally be thrilled to see some emo-orchestrcore band calling themselves "Led Zeppelin" as well, although I guess the upcoming Zep reunion will extend their stranglehold on the name for another decade or two.

There's an idea: if you wanna keep a name after you break up, you'd best do the nostalgia-reunion-show thing on a regular basis.
