WE HAVE AMAZING NEW MAGAZINES! Southern Exposure is back! And check out this week’s volunteer pick, Chapel Hill’s classic, The Sun magazine. We also have many other new amazing magazines – come check them out before they go.

ROLLING THUNDER: Patrick-the-Second says, “This fourth, and most recent, edition of Rolling Thunder continues on in the tradition of the much beloved Crimethinc Ex-Workers’ Collective. Detailing the brutal murder of Indy-media’s Brad Will and the uprising in Oaxaca, Mexico, of which he was reporting, this magazine traverses from the somber to the enthralling, all the while embracing hopes for a more beautiful world. Filled with fantastic pictures, Rolling Thunder also describes the manner in which Carrboro’s own Really Really Free Markets have served in usurping the town commons from bureaucrats and politicians and making this public space truly public space; substituting a callous and foul free-market economy with a truly free economy (one might even say a Really Really free economy). In addition, the magazine tells of student occupations in France, the destruction of the South Central farm at the hands of avaricious capitalists, and a description of Lucy Parson, a forerunner of twenty-first century anarchy. The publication ends by providing a list of riveting activities which all readers can enjoy, detailing the intricacies of urban exploration, as well as providing stencils which can be put to fantastic use. All for just $5!!!”

THREE CHEERS FOR APRIL EVENTS!

WEDNESDAY 04 APRIL @7pm
BREAD SCIENCE with Emily Beuhler
Join us and learn about the science of bread by local author, chemist, and breadmaker Emily Beuhler. Learn how to make your own bread and learn about everything that goes into the process. If you have ever wondered how they could pack so much deliciousness in that bread at Weaver Street Market, Beuhler is the answer. With a PhD in Chemistry but with an intense love for kitchen chemistry, Emily knows all. Stop by, listen, learn, try some of her bread, and take home a copy of her book!

TUESDAY 10 APRIL @ 5pm
WAR TAX RESISTANCE INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP
“If you work for peace, stop paying for war”: With this in mind, come learn about the options as well as the risks of war tax resistance. Hosted by a member of the National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee. This is part of War Resistance Tuesdays across town, and in preparation for the Tax Day Demonstration the following Tuesday.

THURSDAY 12 APRIL @7pm
ALL WILL BE REVEALED by Robert Anthony Siegel
Siegel, a creative-writing professor at UNC-W, will be here to present his latest novel from MacAdam-Cage, a small press from Denver, CO. In early-nineteenth-century New York, Augustus Auerbach, crippled since childhood, is obsessed with his highly lucrative work as a pornographer, which he thinks is the next greatest art form. Then one of his most prized models talks him into attending a seance with spiritualist Verena Swann, whose gift has been exploited and augmented with fake special effects by her brother-in-law. When Verena appears to put Augustus in touch with his long-dead and much-loved mother, Augustus finds that he is no longer satisfied with the isolated life he has been living.

FRIDAY 13 APRIL @6pm
2ND ANNUAL SILENT ART AUCTION BENEFIT AND POTLUCK!
This is your chance to take home some swell artwork from local artists and support Internationalist Books at the same time! Artwork of all kinds can be viewed all day, and the potluck and final bidding freakout happens 6-9 pm. So bring some food and nonalcoholic beverages, and enjoy the evening. Most proceeds will go to benefit the bookshop and keep us and the mission alive!

THURSDAY 19 APRIL @7pm
COLD RUNNING CREEK by Zelda Lockhart
Lockhart, author of Fifth Born, will be here to discuss her latest novel, Cold Running Creek. It is a lyrical, personal, and profoundly realistic portrayal of figures of our past whose stories, until now, lay buried beneath the rubble of slavery and Civil War. Lockhart presents a novel that is as significant as Alex Haley’s Roots and as sensitive in the portrayal of its characters as Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God.

PROFESSORS & INSTRUCTORS: Please consider selling your Fall Semester textbooks at Internationalist Books. It is a great way (and easy way!) for you to support the bookshop. Email daniel AT internationalistbooks.org for more information and to find out how.
STUDENTS: Tell your awesome professors/instructors to sell their books for the Fall Semester at Internationalist Books. Tell them it is a great and easy way for them to support the bookshop. They can email daniel AT internationalistbooks.org for more information.
