I wish King's good luck finding a new home soon....

And hope Mary Timony will still perform, I really dig her music and
was excited when I saw her name on the board above the bar last
Sauturday....

instead of attending concerts, i now make mixes and reminisce!

Somewhere in San Francisco on a back porch in July...

01. Country Mile - Pharaoh Sanders
from A Message from Home
Many Years ago my friend Greg Muck held down the door at the old
Yoshi's Nightspot, the one near the ice cream factory. He invited me
to sneak into my first Pharaoh Sanders 4tet show, my first real jazz
performance. A few years later, Pharaoh and "The Great William
Henderson on harmonium" were performing with The Percussion Maestro's
of North and South India at the Masonic Auditorium. I was in the
balcony with John Z. I bought him a birthday ticket to the show. When
Zakir Hussain welcomed Mickey Hart and his wife, Greg was in the front
row, clapping and smiling, Mickey sitting directly behind him. Muck
sandwiched between Pharaoh and Mickey... two of his favorite
musicians, what a connected moment in my concert history memory...

02. We Gotta Have Peace - Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions
from The Very Best of....

03. Natural Blues - Moby
from Play/Best of Moby

04. No Radio - Dirty on Purpose
from Hallelujah Sirens

05. Maggie - Cracker
from Greenland
David Lowery and Johnny Hickman recently played what was dubbed an
acoustic show. They were a duo, Dave on acoustic and Johnny on
electric guitar, except for three songs when they invited the
Hackensaw Boys back up on stage. It was exactly the show I expected, a
Cracker setlist minus bass, drums and keys, simple, exactly what I
wanted. They played Maggie and I Need Better Friends. Fun Fact, "Take
the Skinheads Bowling" is about the former Rock and Bowl on Haight
Street in San Francisco, now Amoeba Records, Cracker performed a
bluegrassy version with the The Hackensaw Boys.

06. Lost In the Super Market - The Clash
from London Calling
RIP Joe Strummer - I miss you

07. This Is England - The Clash
from Cut the Crap

08. I Need Better Friends - Cracker

12. Love Is Just a Four-Letter Word - Joan Baez

13. Pillowtalk - Doris Day

lovefest, Netflix it...

14. I Shall Be Released - Joan Baez
from Sings Bob Dylan

15. Oominated Love Slave - Green Day

16. Somebody Got Murdered - The Clash

Wasted Again
(next time - some Dead Kennedy's)

20. Christie Road - Green Day
from Kerplunk

21. Beautiful - Moby
from Hotel and Best of Moby
Look at us, were beautiful
All the people push and pull, but
Let's just go out and ride
Talk about the things we've tried

22. Standing On The Moon - The Grateful Dead
Live at Oakland Alameda County Coliseum
Oakland, CA
Halloween 1991
I'm pretty sure I was at all 4 shows on this run. The run of shows
that coincided with Bill Graham's accidental death, which led up to
the massive free show on the Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park, RIP
Bill, what a week (and a life) in the Bay Area.... a bit later in the
year I was in Hong Kong on my way to China, Nepal and India.
