ART INSTALLATION BY: TBA

PERFORMANCES BY:

Werewolf Unit (GA)
http://www.myspace.com/werewolfunit

Dan Deacon label-mate weilding a trombone light-sabre running into and out of
pre-adolescence, while colorful lights and wonderfull props destroy the
hunched over death of noise music. Bleeps and bloops and ringalangs. One half
Wolf Eyes freak out noise section, one part 2nd grade show and tell, and
gallons of warped free jazz vynl records left in the snow. Rare beauty,
embodying not only a musical idea, but a real sonic image, as memorable and
moving as it is challenging and abrasive. One man, one horn, knick-knacks
a'plenty = party in our collective pantz!

Height (MD)
http://www.myspace.com/height

B-more rap meister flowing w/ eerie, atmospheric, and spare beats, Dense,
rich sonics with faraway-sounding synth bleeps, echo-laden drums, and long
silences betwixt powerful yet vunerable lyrics. Palpable desperation at it's
finest. "The gods must be crazy for making me rap/ And I don't have the
courage to question that,". Spit that truth Brother Height.

Jones (MD)
http://www.myspace.com/jonesrecords

B-More rap. Ex-Wounds. ??? A mystery, shrouded in an enigma swallowed by a
white whale sinking into The Mariana Trench.

The Sunshine Will (NJ)
http://www.myspace.com/thesunshinewill

Watching The Sunshine Will play is like the feeling you get when you finally
convince your girlfriend to let you handcuff her during sex, only then after
you handcuff her you go to the convenience store and buy some Hoho's. The
taste of the first bite of the first Hoho makes you feel the same way as one
of their shows. Songs about whiskey, deepthroated roses and equestrian
statues that look like your father. Angry guitar mind bending rock. think
jehu, shellac, pleasure forever, young sonic youth, etc.

Rapid Cities (NJ)
http://www.myspace.com/rapidcities

Glory-hole punching math-metal, post-hardcore jamboree. Deliberately evoking
familiar patterns of a rock and punk rock tradition, and spitting it out with
a conscious, yet subtle control of the unconventional and the dissonant. Like
flipping head first over your handlebars and landing unscathed, thinking, wow
that was amazing and repeating the act w/ grim repercussions.

Trophy Scars (NJ)
http://www.myspace.com/trophyscars

Having shared the stage w/ Cursive, The Blood Bros., Beloved, The Bled,
they've earned their mutton chops. Combining all sorts of different genres
(hardcore, hip-hop, folk, classic rock) & extracting moments of prog and
post-rock to make up near atmospheric backgrounds which provide the backdrop
to lead singer Jerry Jones' shaky sneer. Swiftly-executed loud/soft dynamics,
tempos, and time signature changes. Violins, cellos, saxophone, trumpets,
harmonica, bongos, synthetic beats, soaring pianos, epic guitars,
lung-punching bass, acute percussion and-screaming-and-singing that crash
into each other. Should be a great, memorable set. Saw these fellas back in
2003 in NJ and they were rockin' *Note to the ladies, these boys are dreamy

The Natalie Fight (Michigan)
http://www.myspace.com/thenataliefight

A witches brew of band influences are apparent including The Faint, Reggie
and the Full Effect, Underoath, and The Mars Volta. These gents bring energy,
fun, & puree it along w/youthful exhuberance. I'll be shaking my tailfeather
b/c I love me some synthy action, why don't you join me?

Sat. Aug. 26th
The Sibling Project/Wolverines CD-Release Show & Lindsay's & Aaron's 2nd
Annual Greenville B-Day Bash!!!
@ The Turducken House
208 11th St.
Greenville, NC 27858

FEATURING PERFORMANCES BY:

The Sibling Project (Raleigh)
http://www.myspace.com/thesiblingproject

Girl/guy harmonies, staggered layering, & same-note overlappage. Front row
sing-alongs will have you caught in the posi-energy which projects out like a
hot glazed krispy kreme energy beam beamed directly into your cerebrial
cortex . Double clappy synth and electronic beats ala Postal Service. If you
don't at least smile at the spectacle you best check that pulse, son!

Wolverines (Raleigh)
http://www.myspace.com/wolverinesrock

One drum set. One guitar. A mutated step-child of Hella and Lightning Bolt w/
a bit more post-hardcore & 1st wave screamage ala Saetia or Joshua Fit For
Battle mixed in. Throw-you-off tempo changes throughout their rhythm-based
scheme. An explosive clatter of percussion; cymbal crashes and semi-automatic
snareshots to the cranium. Angular, tightly-executed leads on the guitar that
flare into throttling sheets of rhythm. Screamed out vocals that constitute
an incomprehensible wail of anguish. Primal, powerful; Fuck Hugh Jackman, the
real wolvie is
Victor Devlin with Brandon Smith Weapon X-ing.

Spader (Raleigh)
http://www.myspace.com/spadermusic

Dance-tastic playboys wielding guitars and slinky bass to get the hips
a'swayin. Mid-tempo disco-punk fusion that'd make Stephen Hawkings rise out
of his chair,do the watoosy on the kitchen table, then write a book about how
Spader's actually a vessel through which time-travel is possible. Undeniably
catchy & unadulteratedly white-knuckle sexy. Gummy nethers will pulsate!

Summerbirds In The Cellar (FL)
http://www.myspace.com/summerbirds

***One half of Now It's Overhead on Saddle Creek Records!***
2 drummers -- one electric and one standard, provide duelling, hypnotic beats
& a tribal undertone to the haunting melodies and ethereal ambiance. Toured
w/ The Bravery. Taking inspiration from bands like Jesus and Mary Chain, Joy
Division, Air or Interpol, minus the obsessive attention to fashion.
Dreamrock, Pink Floyd-esque, a new wave Phil Collins/Genesis?!? Alternately
spacey (but not quite, more otherworldly) & catchy, with electronic sounds
fleshing things out. If you like to think and you like to dance you're gonna
go ga-ga over this band. Much too good not to blow up soon, see them here and
now in a house & make your friends all jealous-like next year ;)

Moss of Aura (Greenville)
http://www.myspace.com/mossofaura

Future Islands keyboard meister working the mad-professor synth and ivory
skills. Are you experienced? Sampled, stripped, and re-imagined electronic
and vocal sound collages, with hip-hop beats that'll resurrect your dead
granny and have her gyrating against her tombstone.

Teenwave (Greenville)

First show! Last Show? Unexpected, undisclosed Area 51 technology at use. The
fellas involved are sure to infect your soul, leaving you a spiritual mess.
Boy Howdy! Blissed out noise, kiddy toys, and kissy kiss boys. Funky
homosapians bringing it back to the elemental basics. Electronic alchemy.
Burn the witch!

Your basic hardware store generally has a rack of plastic cases filled
with a variety of parts such as this.

If you can't find it locally, McMaster-Carr <www.mcmaster.com> can
generally set you up.

The Evil Forces at work have once again conspired against me. I'm going to
have to be out of town on September 14th and will not be able to go see the
Lyle Lovett show. So I have two tix for sale.

Note: This is NOT the UNC-CH show. This is for the September 14th show at
Corpening Plaza in Winston-Salem. See
http://www.ziggyrock.com/html/ziggy-ws-calendar.html for details. I paid $86
for the pair and will sell at face value or best offer.

Please reply to me directly, off-list if interested.

Thanks,

We bought a snake grabber that works really well. All
snakes are released a safe distance away from our
building and the golf course that borders us. It's
illegal to kill a critter on UNC property as far as I
know. At least it's frowned upon.

So, it's also illegal in NC to relocate a mammal (living or dead, as far
as I know) from your property to anyplace else without a permit. Does
anybody know if that's also true for other branches of the animal kingdom?

Next time I have a mouse infestation, I will contact my local NC Wildlife
Damage Control Agent for a depredation permit.

Seriously: The NC Wildlife Commission herptologist told me that capturing
snakes and removing them to wild areas is permitted if they aren't listed
on the endangered species list. Copperheads aren't.

Even if they were, it would be irresponsible as a father and neighbor to
leave a potentially dangerous animal on my property. What are the
alternatives? Killing it? Not if I can help it. Locating, calling, and
then waiting for someone ostensibly more qualified than me to show up and
capture the snake? Sorry. Not going to happen.

For once in my life, John, I wasn't actually accusing you of
malfeasance. I was just curious because I'd read something that seemed
specifically to apply to mammals (not sure if the main concern is just
not relocating your nuisance raccoon to somebody else's trashcan, or the
larger issue of rabies spread) but it didn't seem clear as to whether it
also applied to snakes, or to Kevin Grealey's turtles that he's always
throwing in the trunk of his car.

On the other hand, I *do* think you're batshit crazy for picking up
copperheads & wandering around with them. ;-)

Indie psycherocktronicpoststuff from Atlanta, GA. Southern fried and

this summer.

NONCANON
(http://www.myspace.com/noncanon)
Durham/Raleigh's own indie shoegazey new-comers. Danny's spent time in
numerous projects, to my understanding, before settling down into this
burned out, guitar wash space/drone rock. Rob is fresh from drumming
along side the Cheap Heat kids. Their song-crafting is new and perfect
for a Saturday night come down.
Hopefully some lucky listeners caught them on Ross' show Sunday evening!

I didn't think you were accusing me of anything. Now or ever.

The rules surrounding the depredation permit seem to be somewhat unclear.
>From what I could glean they (the NCWRC) seem most concerned with large
mammals, migratory waterfowl, fish, and miscelaneous endangered species.

Among snakes, rattlers would fall under the endangered species category and
would be. In the unlikely event that I would find one of those in my back
yard, no protected status would cause me to hesitate to eliminate that
particular threat. I can't let one of those get away in my neighborhood
and expose my family or my neighbors to the threat those snakes pose.

Copperheads are a different story. They aren't (in my experience)
particularly aggressive and they seem very easy to handle. A long handle
rake and a paper shopping bag is all I feel is necessary. Opinions will no
doubt vary.

My understanding is that only Australians who can shout "Crikey, look
at that big'un" are authorized to handle snakes. It's a genetic
thing, I think.

Also helps to have an "Eight is Enough" haircut, too.

d

at my website, www.rattlejar.com, you'll see the rattle from the
biggest timber rattler my family ever killed. It's not a trophy; more
a tribute to a magnificent creature who was naturally following the
mice that found refuge in the house we built in the mountains. West
Virginia. It was always a sad day when we killed a snake.
