I've only visited the Eastern Lights once, but I got
a quick meal to-go and was quite pleased...

I generally rule out most of these joints as well,
but i do like to mix it up every now and then.

I don't really keep an extensive catalog of chinese takeout joints in the Triangle; in fact I've sort of edited that subsubgenre out of my diet, pretty much. I can say that if you're looking for something interesting & slightly different (and not really takeout-y, I guess), then Eastern Lights over behind [former] South Square is worth a visit. The handmade noodles are good, and the rest of the menu isn't just the same 10 dishes as everyplace else. I think they're chinese/korean, which would explain that, but I don't quite recall.
