-------------------------------------------------------------------

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25 - BUY NOTHING DAY @ IBOOKS, 12pm - 5pm

On Friday, November 25 (“the busiest shopping day of the year”),
Internationalist Books & Community Center will open its doors to the
public as usual, but no merchandise will be sold. Instead, we’re
hosting an afternoon of community events, including a bookmaking
workshop, free food, and a community swap where people can bring gifts
and exchange them with others.

BUY NOTHING DAY is a simple idea with deep implications. It forces us
to think about the "shop-till-you-drop" imperative and its impact on the
rest of the world. Internationalist Books will provide a festive space
for those who choose to join in rethinking consumerism on the busiest
shopping day of the year.

The Buy Nothing Day movement began thirteen years ago in Canada and has
since spread around the globe, to some 60 countries, including the
Netherlands, Brazil, Italy, Russia, India, and of course, the United
States. This is the sixth year that the Internationalist has celebrated
Buy Nothing Day. For a complete history of the movement, go to
www.adbusters.org. We invite you to join us in our celebration of
community beyond consumerism!
-------------------------------------------------------------------

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3 - MEMBER'S ONLY SALE AND OPEN HOUSE @ IBOOKS

Get a head start on Holiday shopping with our member's only sale day.
Stay tuned for more info.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 4 - 'BIODIESEL POWER' PRESENTATION @ IBOOKS, 3pm

Join Ibooks in welcoming author Lyle Estill for a reading and discussion
about his book 'Biodiesel Power: The passion, the people, and the
politics of the next renewable fuel.'

"'Biodiesel Power' is a chronicle of this emerging industry. Tracking
the people, the stories and the rapidly moving history of the biodiesel
movement with wit and wisdom, authos Lyle Estill reveals the tensions
among grassroota activists and their altruistic co-ops, the
profit-minded commercial producers and the voices of agribusiness, and
the current administration -- or "the coalition of the drilling."
-------------------------------------------------------------------

going on today” — Slavoj Zizek.
