Title: Re: [Cc-uk] CC Scotland license question I think, David, you’re probably looking at the original draft at http://creativecommons.org/worldwide/scotland/translated-license . That’s long been rewritten as per my tediously frequent posts to this list. The final version (which was sent to CC in June for comment and approval) remains at http://www.jonathanmitchell.info/cc/cc_sco_licence.html as before. It is also on the CC Scotland website at http://creativecommons.org.uk/?n=Scotland.Draftlicence , and you can see a mock-up of how it would look at http://www.jonathanmitchell.info/cc/by-nc-sa-2.5-sco-legalcode.html . I can still take comments while we await a response from international CC which I hope for in September.
The trouble is that CC won’t allow amended drafts to be posted on their website, only the first draft and the final public version, so that the amendment process has to be carried out elsewhere.
It is indeed clear that the BBC licence is not CC-compatible, although until it was published this spring it was hoped that it would be. Odd, when Crown copyright is effectively compatible; see http://www.dfes.gov.uk/copyright/ for an example, but I understand we are stuck with the current BBC draft until autumn 2006 at least because their budget doesn’t run to a redraft meantime.

Subject: [Cc-uk] CC Scotland license question
I am more than slightly alarmed at clause 2.3 in the Draft License:
'You must offer to the recipient a licence to the Derivative Work which must be either one with the same terms and conditions as this Licence, or a later version of this Licence with the same Licence Elements as this Licence, or another Creative Commons licence with the same Licence Elements as this Licence, or the BBC Creative Archive general public licence '
Why should people have the right to re-license my work (particularly under a non-CreativeCommons BBC license) under their own terms? If I choose a particular Creative Commons license, that is what I want my work to be available under, and nothing else
