Hi All,
After much delay, a draft of the English booklet can be found at
http://hk.creativecommons.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/aatc3.pdf
One image is still missing and we are co-ordinating with CC Australia.
I have inserted a page to introduce to CCHK and added the CCHK logo in
prominent places. Please comment.

Haggen

Hi All,_______________________________________________
CC Australia has made the raw files for the booklet available for
reuse on their web site.
http://creativecommons.org.au/asiaandthecommons
I have some ideas on how to alter part of the booklet and I have
drafted an introduction for CCHK. Unfortunately, the admin office will
be involved in organising the "Conference on Digital Convergence at
The University of Hong Kong from June 12-13" and Matthew will be on
leave on Monday. I will let everyone know when the CCHK version is
ready.

Alexander,
You are a good project manager! I am not sure if I can answer all of
them but here are some of the answers.
2009/6/3 Kwun Piu Wong <kwun_piu AT hotmail.com>:
Hi all and Haggen,
The Australian booklet is fine but as my view, the style maybe not be very
attractive to me. Will Matthew re-design it and if it is possible or
allowable to do so coz it is come from Creative Commons Australian? And, is
it a necessary to print a Australian booklet with 60 page full version? I
mean, to the environment and I guess, I guess the booklet should give a
short and clear and the main idea to the audience about Creative Commons and
the Case Studies and if they are really interested in it, they could visit
CCHK website to download a full version and get more further information.
I have a discussion with Matthew just before and we will do some
adjustment. I am also asking the Creative Commons Australia for the
raw files. In terms of re-design, I am not sure if Matthew can afford
the time. See if we can come to a compromise.
In addition,
1) How is the RTHK CC survey running? I mean the analysis of the survey.
Still waiting the PR department to finish the questionnaire analysis?
It is up to RTHK to tell us the update.
2) How is the LS training for teachers mentioned before?
I attended the "Liberal Studies Assessment and Media" event on 23th
May (http://www.isoc-hk.org/media-literacy/web.html) and there was a
good discussion on copyright. I also had the chance to introduce CC to
the audience and they were also very interested. I am co-ordinating
with one of the co-organiser, Hong Kong Media Education Resources
Web, to see if we can organise another talk on copyright ASAP.
and media attention also.
The original plan was to generate media attention so that there will
be more positive result for the survey. When I talked to our inhouse
media specialist, she pointed out that CC may not be an issue with
urgency. The articles submitted may not be printed on time before the
survey ended.
On the other hand, I am building a media list so that we can be better
prepared next time.
3) And will there are any plan to organize a talk in secondary school or
university to the students in the future?
No yet. But I plan to deliver some of the booklets in person and hear
from friends from different University on how we can better serve and
support them.
4) At last but not the least, as Oiwan mentioned, how is the volunteer register system and legco monitor?
Yes I did miss out on the volunteer register system. I will follow up.
I plan to organise the legco watch after 64, as most who care about
politics are probably occupied by this issue right now.
There are a lot of questions and most of them are pointed out before but I
can't see any more discussion on it? Feel free to answer my trouble =)
Regards,
Alexander

Hi SC,
The plan is to distribution both Chinese and English booklets to
interested departments and libraries (if possible) in higher
institutions so that academics and students can easily access these
materials.
The problem with the first one is that some information is outdated as
it was produced in late 2006. To improve it, we may need co-ordination
and updated information from CC International, which will further
delay the process. Therefore the approach I adopted before was to use
ready-made materials.
To partly remedy the short-comings of the booklet "Asia and the
Commons Case Studies 2008", I will include a two-sided English flyer
printed during the Launch

Hi,
Who are the audience of the publication and what is the purpose of the
publication?
"Encouraging the ecology of creativity" is more an entry level publication.
The Australian booklet is a more advanced level publication and it is a
better one.
Can we afford to have a pamphlet that is a simplified version of the
first one, and then a full printed version of the Australian booklet?

Hi All,
After searching promotion materials from English speaking
jurisdictions: Australia, Canada, UK, South Africa and India, I found
that the booklet "Asia and the Commons Case Studies 2008" may be
suitable. http://creativecommons.org.au/asiaandthecommons It is a
full-colour 60-page booklet with 16 case studies of CC projects in
Asia and beyond. The shortcomings of this booklet is that there is no
beginner level introduction of CC and the reader is assumed to have
some former understanding. Also, we may not be able to print many
copies of this booklet.
I would like to get some feedback from the community these two
promotion materials: "Asia and the Commons Case Studies 2008" and
former suggestion, "Encouraging the ecology of creativity from CCi

Hi All,
If there is no further opinion, I will proceed with the logistics for
English promotion materials.
Current progress:
I discovered that "Encouraging the ecology of creativity" was produced
in 2006 (the first page said 2007, but I was told it was done the year
before)
http://wiki.creativecommons.org/images/6/65/Creativecommons-encouraging-the-ecology-of-creativity_eng.pdf
I am in the process of contacting CCi and finding out if there is any
more updated material with similar content.
I will be on leave next week from 25-29 May. It is just a "holiday
destroying" exercise and I will still in Hong Kong. I will answer
emails and if it is really urgent, find my office number from the CCHK
official web site and one of my colleagues will give you my mobile.

Haggen

Hi All,
Just an update.
I finally submitted the conference paper yesterday and I can do more
work on this.
I have done a stocktake and there areabout 3800 copies of Chinese CC
Education Kit
http://hk.creativecommons.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/cc-kit_081006_final.pdf
We can afford to give 200-300 copies to each distribution point.
I am also wondering if we need to distribute English material as well,
as stakeholders in Universities can be expatriates. Currently the
standard English material is a two-sided Flyer. There are about 230 of
them.
http://wiki.creativecommons.org/images/6/62/Creativecommons-informational-flyer_eng.pdf
It looks quite unsubstantial compared with the Education Kit. We need
a reprint if we are going to distribute them.
I sourced English materials on
http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Documentation and found "Encouraging
the ecology of creativity"
http://wiki.creativecommons.org/images/6/65/Creativecommons-encouraging-the-ecology-of-creativity_eng.pdf
A 13 page a-bit-smaller-than-A4 introductory material on the general
principles of CC and renowned international projects. This can give a
complementary view to the Education Kit which is very local.
I just want to collect opinion on whether 200-300 copies is a good
number and whether English material will be important.
Thanks and Regards,
Haggen

Dear All,
It is a great respond. I am still working on my paper but most of it
is written now. Let me give some feedbacks.
2009/5/13 Kwun Piu Wong <kwun_piu AT hotmail.com>:
I am not sure if CCHK should do the same case to the Hong Kong institute
of
Vocational Education as in the University.
Alexander
Yes, we can try that as well. Do you have any contacts?
2009/5/13 Griffith Jones <insight AT gjones.com>:
Hi All,
What about HKUST?
Griff
Everyone please suggest. I do have a distant contact. I will try, but
don't know if if will work.
Media email list
I keep a collection of Hong Kong News articles published about CC from
pre-launch to Apr 09 (e.g. http://cchk.wetpaint.com/page/Dec+6 ) I
will work on that and of course, I will ask Velentina, our inhouse
veteran, for help.
I am also sourcing some English materials from
http://creativecommons.org/about/downloads/ and other place for
non-Chinese audience.
Regards,
Haggen
