A month ago Ryan Merkley announced the 2015 Creative Commons Global Summit will take place in Seoul, South Korea, October 15-17, 2015. Huge congratulations to CC Korea for their winning bid! It's exciting to be convening the global Creative Commons family and as many of our sister open organizations as possible.
I've agreed to help with program planning and am sending this e-mail is to update you on planning progress and invite you to participate in brainstorming and working groups around the Global Summit theme, structure, and program activities.
We will be launching a Call for Participation to the general public soon that people can use to submit ideas for specific sessions or events. But in the meantime, we're hoping for feedback from you, our affiliate community, on the general ideas being proposed so far. We are also looking for volunteers to join a Programming Committee which will help us with the details, including defining tracks, program activity selection, working with keynotes, developing a schedule, etc.
A draft description of the proposed program themes, structure, and example activities so far is provided below.

Day 1 - Proposed Sub-theme - Celebration of Sharing
Public facing event celebrating and highlighting the value of CC
Example Activities:
Showcase CC examples from all sectors (GLAM, education, artists, writers, photographers, filmmakers, scientists, ...)
Showcase CC examples from all regions of the world - something from as many affiliates as possible
Ignite talks by CC volunteers from around the world sharing their personal stories, inspiring ideas, and experiences
CC music collaboration, CC cookoff (of CC recipes), fun festival, film festival, anti-surveillance fashion show ... Things that actively engage the public

Evening: CC Party
Day 2 - Proposed Sub-theme - The Work of Sharing
Working group sessions that collaborate on solving the issues of today
Examples Activities:
Wikipedia edit-a-thon on Creative Commons
CC tech and mobile hackathon - the List, CC Chooser, CC Search, CC use tracking, ...
Platform plenary panel; re-imagining the licenses for platforms, exploring the labor of gratitude for the commons and its _expression_ in platforms, ...

Day 3 - Proposed Sub-theme - The Future of Sharing
Focus on planning and strategy for next two years
Example Activities:
Panel or debate on big picture of CC -- how can it be more relevant? How to work with other sister organizations?
What is the role/future of the affiliate network - examine how the current network works; its structure; brainstorming workshop
Q&A session with Ryan and board of directors
Are the CC licences still needed”? chance to really examine/challenge CC’s role in the new decade - how CC is adapting to new users/industry/tech trends, etc.
