While I think a lot of us are still trapped between Christmas and New Years celebrations, I wanted to provide some input for the coming year.

As you've seen in a separate thread, there's talk of a European meeting (or meetings) to catch up on the 4.0 process and provide relevant feedback into this process. There might be one or more opportunities to meet and discuss the 4.0 during 2012: in connection to LAPSI and/or in connection to Re:Publica.

I was also approached by tvol about a week ago about the interest in sui generis database rights, in part due to the concurrent 4.0 process, and the fact that we have several stakeholders in Europe working with SGDR from various aspects. I've also been talking to Cable about OER and the work of CC in relation to OER.

While I still don't have the official numbers, there will be some funds made available from CC HQ for regional meetings during 2012. How we use those are up to us. It's important to keep in mind though that this funding would not be enough to cover travel! But we might be able to cover some other costs in relation to regional meetings.

So some questions:

1. Would it be of interest to organise a meeting more specific about SGDR, in connection to or separate from the 4.0?
2. Would it be of interest to have a meeting on OER?
3. Would it be of interest to have a meeting on collecting societies (I'm looking at Paul here :-)
4. What other topics would be of interest?

I don't envision that all affiliates will show up for all meetings, but we can identify areas of common interest between some of the affiliates and build opportunities to meet based around these.
