- Subject: [BL] "SVGA" and links2
- Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2008 00:48:53 +0000 (UTC)
Steven says links2 (and Opera?) need SVGA, which he defines (? I deleted that email) as at least 15 bit color and 800x600.
Links2 for x11 works for me at 640x480 resolution in BL3 (and in BL2, another precompiled version I found).
It also works in 8-bit color, but Xvesa is the wrong colors.
With another X server, it probably works better.
It does not work in 4-bit color. No graphics drivers found.
Opera also works (funny colors) in Xvesa 8-bit color but not 4-bit (display not supported bpp=4).
Opera 6 worked in mono (no images).
Perhaps 'SVGA' (which has confused several of us) could be changed to
'at least 8-bit color'.
We have laptops that do 800x600x8 with a standard X that should be fine for links2.
SVGAlib links2 (with libvga.so) works 320x200x16 (4-bit color)
through 1600x1200x16M32.
