I reported that on one computer if you put in hda with four DOS partitions and hdb with three primary linux and one extended with logical linux partitions you lost all but the first DOS partition on hda.

Turns out the hard drive is somewhat messed up, and other drives behave properly in that computer. (The drive also messes up partitions in other computers). hda died during tested. Its replacement had bad sectors...
The computer still runs drives at 2/3 expected transfer rate but is okay otherwise.

But 'properly' still means that you lose DOS D: partition - if you try to access it you get something not usable instead, which is extended. Just make it small and don't use it for anything.

Or use only one drive, with one to three primary and one extended partition, and the drive letters show up as expected.
