How do I make these partition type ext2

You don't. There is no type ext2.
You make it type Linux.

After running mke2fs, FS type for the two logical partitions is now Linux ext2 (like the three primary partitions). Before mke2fs it was just 'Linux'. The primary partitions have Label EXT2, the logical ones no label. Accoridng to ranesh and PQMagic the logical partitions (before running mke2fs) were already ext2.

Anyway, it is possible to make linux logical partitions with cfdisk. Some day I will try with BL3.50 fdisk (once I copy it to a logical partition).
