Thanks for your help, but I'm having no luck I'm afraid. I had actually
tried what you suggested before posting, viz:

mount -t vfat /dev/hdc1 /mnt/pcmcia

but, still receive: Mounting /dev/hdc1 on /mnt pcmcia failed: No such device

I don't think the card is being configured properly. During the
configuration routine (see below again) there are, in fact, two beeps at the
points shown in the message (which I've double-checked and is correct). My
understanding is that as the card is being configured there's a 'single'
beep? Then you proceed to mounting the card. Why is card manager 'exiting'?

There's also 'Card Services release does not match' in the message. Could
this be causing the problem?
