The following two settings seem to do the trick for me.
xset s off &
xset -dpms &

There are some Xvesa parameters related to the
screensaver. I'd try playing around with those.

If that doesn't work, you might want to check
your CMOS setup. The screen blanking might
be coming from some power-saving setting in
your BIOS.
