I am using the Scanjet 3400C with the USB connection with sane. Look into the
sane and see if the niash driver is mentioned. That is the driver you need
for the Scanjet. Do not know if It was already included in the <=Slackware
7.1 but I know that in the sane package since three or four years the niash
driver is included. Do not throw away the Scanjet. You may use it for a long
time to come ;)
