BL2 RAMDISK works on this Compaq 5010
I assume that is the default kernel.
116MHz laptop computer.
That's a strange speed. Are you sure it's a Pentium
not a souped-up 486?
Our Compaq 486 laptop is 75MHz, our Toshiba 100Mhz is Pentium.
The owner said it was a Pentium I, but he also said it had 'no software'.
It had Win98.
p1 kernel 2.2.26
Starts to boot them almost immediately a screen full of:
CPU#0: Machine Check Exception:
I suggest you try the default kernel.
Okay, thanks. BL2 ramdisk booted with the default kernel.
We will probably get him online with Win98 since it has a winmodem and we have a working cardbus wireless card which works in that computer (it crashes in ours). But he can also learn a bit about linux and then we can put it on one of his three desktops (PII).
