Does gphoto work with USB cameras that do not work as mass storage devices
in BL3, via the USB cable?
Yes, gphoto supports cameras which use the Picture Transfer Protocol
and similar protocols. It does not support mass storage cameras, since
they work with the usb-storage driver. See links in previous postings
to the gphoto manual, which explains what cameras are supported, and
the long list of specifically supported cameras.
