Today I bought a pair of ancient NetWave wireless cards
(for $3) and got them running on BL3. The standard BL3
kernel worked fine. It just needed the netwave_cs module
(from Slackware 7.1) and a three new entries in the PCMCIA
config file:
----------------------------------------------------------
device "netwave_cs"
class "network" module "netwave_cs"
card "Xircom CreditCard Netwave"
version "Xircom", "CreditCard Netwave"
bind "netwave_cs"
module "netwave_cs" opts "domain=0x7 scramble_key=0x7777"
---------------------------------------------------------
Those 7's are just examples.
I was able to ping between the cards, copy files using
send/receive, and use startxt to run X applications
remotely. It's a pity the NetWaves are so slow (about
the same speed as PLIP). Wavelan and Lucent are much
faster (and also have modules in Slackware 7.1).
Cheers,
Steven
