Will Mplayer do .swf files?
No. SWF has support for many different things which MPlayer
isn't designed to handle.
People are always sending something new.
(Shockwave Flash, I believe it is).
For SWFs you may either use the Flash plugin from Macromedia (for
Linux) or the free software equivalent:
http://www.swift-tools.net/Flash/
This comes either as an rpm for KDE, or as 350K source code, and plays swf movies. It can be used as a Netscape plugin (can you use Netscape plugins with Opera or links2?). I might eventually try to compile it since I now have a fast enough computer to use it on.
There is also swftools. One of the tools allows you to extract
video, audio, and other things from an SWF.
4MB Windows binary, or 1.5MB linux source. Most of the tools are for turning other formats into swf. Can you (or I) compile just the tool for extracting other formats from swf?
