Yes, you can install emacs from Slackware. However,
the full emacs package is quite large. You might want
to have a look the smaller emacs-like editors (jed and
jove) in /slackware/a1

No. BL3 has libc5 (same as Slackware 3 and 4).

Slackware 4.0 packages are the best ones to use for BL3,
but most packages from Slackware 3.x will work.

BL3 has a built-in networking capability for laptops.
Simply insert a PCMCIA network card and execute:

/etc/pcmcia/start
-----------------
Hopefully BL3 will recognize your card and automatically
activate eth0. If not, tell us what type of card it is
and we will try to figure out which module it needs (from
Slackware).
