They should coz fonts to be downloaded to printer
are OS-independent.

BTW There is also another option:

1. you convert your ascii cyrillic texts
to postscript with a2ps

2. you print postscript file with ghostscript.

Though I'ven't tested them, they should work.
Although ghostscript may be too much time/processor
consuming on old machines.
