I did that. It still doesn't print from Abiword, but at least it doesn't
give any more "unknown printer" messages.

Well, it works. After a fashion. It gives black text on an off-white
background. "setterm -h" gives a list of parameters, but doesn't give much
of
a clear idea of what they are - maybe it is intelligable to gurus. Couldn't
find
a man for setterm. Looks like it will take some experimentation. :)
