Hi,
I want to try out Basic Linux out on the following :
  • Pentium 133HZ
  • 2 gig hard drive
  • 16 Mb memory
  • 48x cdrom
Sorry if this is long but I like to get as much information out the first time to try and solve the problem.

So far I have done the following:
  1. Down loaded the zip containing Basic Linux
  2. Unzipped the contents and including make the floppies.
  3. Created the floppies.
  4. I ran off of the floppies once.
  5. It seem to work ok.
  6. I then decided install it on the hard drive.
  7. I have created a boot.bat file with following in it.
  8. loadlin zimage root=/dev/hda1 ro
  9. This file is locate on my C: DOS drive.
  10. I have a attempted to load the files on the hard drive
  11. I also found files located on my hard drive which I need
  • loadlin.exe
  • zimage
However when I run the boot.bat file it stops and seems to give a Warning.
Here is what it say:

Warning: unable to open an initial console
Kernel panic: no init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.

This is were it stops and does nothing else.

On the screen still is my various information that has been found .
One of these items is my disk partitions and they are
hda: hda1  hda2 <hda5 hda6>
Under DOS I have
  • C drive 760 Mb
  • D drive 520 Mb
  • E drive  520 Mb
  • G Drive cdrom
>From what little I know I believe I have the files all located in the correct place and have called the right place in the "boot.bat".
So can someone please tell me why it will not run.

The instruction I used were from a post with the following starting url:
