I am trying to get sound working in Basic linux. I have installed bzimage
using the bare.i kernel. I put the config and system.map file in the same
directory as bzimage. I installed the sndmods.tgz. I even installed
devs.tgz. When I try to insmod sound, I get the following errors:
Using /lib/modules.2.2.16/misc/sound.o
insmod: unresolved symbol sound_preinit_lowlevel_drivers
insmod: unresolved symbol unregister_sound_dsp
insmod: unresolved symbol sound_unload_lowlevel_drivers
insmod: unresolved symbol unregister_sound_midi
insmod: unresolved symbol register_sound_dsp
insmod: unresolved symbol register_sound_mixer
insmod: unresolved symbol unregister_sound_mixer
insmod: unresolved symbol unregister_sound_special
insmod: unresolved symbol register_sound_special
insmod: unresolved symbol sound_init_lowlevel_drivers
insmod: unresolved symbol register_sound_midi

Can anyone please help? I will admit I am not very experienced with Linux.
Rory
