Ok. That helped. I had high hopes for this old laptop since it's a
decent machine for its class (486 DX4 100, 20MB RAM). Given that, with
the netsetup stuff in place, I can ping the laptop from the desktop but
not vice versa (100% packet loss results from the latter attempt), should
I assume I have a laptop with a non PLIP-capable port? I guess 10
baseT pcmcia network cards can be had fairly cheaply, if need be.
