The reason $TERM=vt100 does not work is that is for sh (or maybe bash?)
and I am using tcsh. A bbs member set to 'setenv TERM vt100'. (I had
tried variations on this). Kermit says to 'set telnet terminal-type
vt100' before telnetting (I think it could also go in .kermitrc).
There is also a line for telling Kermit not to provide your login as
being the same as what you use on your Linux computer whence you are
telnetting. (something about USER). This will keep it from assuming I am
'root'. (Still have no idea how to get my modem to work otherwise).
